# Import & export
Every data set can be exported from zoolo via Excel or CSV (if available in the tariff). In addition, existing data sets can be imported via Excel.
The drop-down menu for selecting the import and export function can be found in the navigation bar at the top right:
# Import
Using the import manager, data can easily be imported into zoolo in Excel format.
To do this, click on the 3 dots at the top right ("...") in the list view and select "Import":
Then a window opens in which you can either drag the corresponding Excel file or select it by clicking in the window.
As soon as the file is loaded, the Import Manager opens.
# import manager
For each available input element (column), you can use the import manager to select a column from the Excel document to which this input element is assigned:
The Auto button tries to automatically assign each column of the Excel document to a field in zoolo.
In addition, the respective field and the field type of each line of the Excel document can be selected by clicking on the small check mark in the corresponding line:
Then the detailed view opens to assign a single column of the Excel document to a field in zoolo:
# Link relations
Relationship data (e.g. "Projects" -> "Companies") are also automatically created by zoolo.
As soon as you link a column of your Excel document with a data type which represents a relation, you can select the field of the respective relation which should be filled under "Name of the field".
For example, if you have a module called "Customer" which has a relation input field to a module called "Company" (and a company has a field called "Company Name"), companies are automatically created when you import customers.
During the import, the field "company name" in the module "company" is filled with the data from the Excel document for "customers".
If a customer has, for example, a company attribute "Miller, inc.", a company with the name is automatically created and linked to the customer.
TIP
Existing relations are not newly created but simply linked.
# Export
To export data, click on the 3 dots at the top right ("...") in the list view and select the format to be exported.
If you select the "Excel (XLSX)" format, a small pop-up window will open in which you can make further configurations:
# Export all relation data
As soon as you activate this checkbox, all fields of relation data are also exported.
If a "customer" has, for example, a relation to "company", all fields of the linked company are also exported.
# Export colors
As soon as fields contain color information, these are set as the background color in the exported Excel file.
